Airfix 1/48 Seafire FR 47 - by Jens Haakon Brandl - Chelmsford, Essex, UK

This Seafire 47 was serving on board HMS Triumph in 1950 until the aircraft was written off in a hard landing - a fate shared with many other Seafires. This is the Airfix kit from the first release back in 1996, detailed with a host of Cooper Details parts: Spitfire 22/Seafire 47 cockpit detail set, Seafire 47 exterior upgrade set. The cockpit interior is the best Spitfire cockpit detail I have ever used. A fair bit of work, but it represents the cockpit very well. The wheelwells were scratchbuilt to add detail, and bits of an Eduard detail set were used selectively. The aircraft specific decals are ALPS printed by Petr Dousek in the Czech Republic, the rest being a combination of kit stencils and Aeromaster roundels.
