Airfix 1/48 E.E. F2A/F6 Lightning - by Andrew Perren - Melbourne, Australia

This is my Airfix 1/48 English Electric Lightning F6 in the colors of 11 Sqn RAF. Many aftermarket parts were used including resin cockpit, exhausts and wheel wells from Aires. The decals were from Model Alliance and I used Barracuda Studios stencils. The quality of these stencils is outstanding, and even though the set is designed for the F1-F3 models many of them are also applicable to the later F6. I had to follow the Airfix decal instructions and then find the corresponding decal on the Barracuda Studios sheet. They are fully readable with a magnifying glass and performed flawlessly.

The model is painted with Alclad metallic lacquers in multiple aluminum shades. The panel line wash was done with an acrylic wash and the whole model was finished with a satin clear coat.
