Hasegawa 1/32 Kittyhawk Mk. I - by, Tomas Chory, Czec Republic
I used my favorite Gunze Sangyo C colors. There was no problem with undersides – Azure Blue (GS 370) was applied right from the bottle. The Gunze Sangyo color matched the sample published in Official United States Aircraft Colors 1908–1993 and Aircraft Color Chart – RAF Tropical/Desert. Dark Green BS461 (GS 361) was applicable too. Unfortunately Gunze Sangyo Dark Earth was unusable. There were two Gunze colors named Dark Earth (GS 22 and GS 369) – but neither was correct! GS 22 is redder and GS 369 is yellower. I mixed the required color with the approximate ratio of two parts of GS 22 and one part of GS 369. Regrettably, Gunze Sangyo Middle Stone (GS 21) is not correct either – it’s much greener than the original color. To get the proper hue I added red GS 3, yellow GS 58 and white GS 62. Gloss lacquer GS 46 was applied before the decals. The whole model (except the spinner) was over-painted with matt lacquer GS 182 in the end to obtain typical desert condition.
