Hasegawa 1/48 Macchi C.202 - by Paolo Portuesi

Here is a simple but at the same time accurate kit. This 1/48 Macchi is very Hasegawa under every respect, including fine recessed panel lines and ease of fitting. It does not need much to build into a small wonder, just some glue, my trusted Gunze Sangyo aqueous color, and some oils. However, it was only taking advantage of the old Jaguar detail kit that I had the chance to bring to life what remains the only major 1/48 release of a significant World War II fighter.

As you can see in these pictures, the level of cockpit detail is amazing, superior of any other cockpit detail set of this airplane ever released. You just need to take a look at the seat belts to see what I mean. I never saw another resin seat, and other seat belts, looking so incredible real. In addition, the Jaguar set gave me the possibility to assess the major shortcoming of this kit: the under detailed wheels well. All the complex network of cables, rods and pipes lying up in there is faithfully replicated by a single piece of resin that just needs some careful painting and weathering.

So, who deserves most credit for what you see in these pictures? The people at Hasegawa and Jaguar do. I am just a painter.
