Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire IX - John Stournaras - Chania, Greece
In this new built but in a different scale, I decided to continue my informal tribute to the Greek aces who flew with foreign airforces, this time to Ioannis Agorastos Plagis. More on this Greek aviator you can read here.

For this, I chose the wonderful Tamiya kit in 1 / 32 of the Spitfire IX. My intention was to depict the aircraft that Plagis used to fly as the Commander of the 126 sqn RAF.The kit is flawless, it really calls at you to build it and improve it. The most surprising? The engine… a model in itself! It is one of those kits that needs no aftrmarket, you can do a wonderful job right straight OOB. The only thing I did not like was the seat, I think Tamiya could do better than the one provided.
Nevertheless I decided to get some aftermarket and they were:
• Sutton QK type bands from here http://www.radubstore.com...th=89&products_id=332
• Seat, door and interior details here http://barracudacals.com/products.php?cat=13
• Hispano 20mm cannons from Master-model
• And masks for painting the insignias and codes by Alex Kontiveis, KONTES MASKS (thanks Alex)
The model was painted with, white ensign British interior for the cockpit and with Tamiya colors (MSG, OG, DG) that were produced especially for this kit.
