Wingnut Wings 1/32 Pfalz D.XII - by Brad Fallen - Canberra, Australia

This is my Wingnut Wings 1/32 Pfalz D.XII, built to represent 2600/18 which was gifted to Australia after World War 1 and is currently fully restored and on display at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, Australia. I live about ten minutes' drive from the Memorial, and the availability of 2600/18 as a 1:1 reference was a major factor in my decision to represent it in model form!

This was my first Wingnuts kit and it's a beautiful piece of engineering. Construction was faultless apart from a couple of self-inflicted errors (such as mixing up the inner and outer wing struts) which were fortunately easily fixed. However I made an early decision to go with a number of aftermarket detailing parts including plugs and valves from Taurus Models, guns from Master, seatbelts from HGW, turnbuckle parts from Bob's Buckles, and of course the late production exhaust from BarracudaCast. The exhaust was easily the most dramatic of the aftermarket parts, and offers significant detail improvements over the Wingnuts original. It was also very straightforward to use, fitting beautifully into the appropriate recesses in the kit engine.
